Join us for IFly Virtual Education & In-Person Flight Experience!
During the virtual classroom you will discuss with educators the differences between solids and fluids. They will identify air as a fluid and learn that air can exert a force on objects. The STEM Educator will discuss the different forces at work in the wind tunnel, and how changing the shape or “frontal area” of an object will affect its speed in the wind tunnel. Educators will also introduce engineering careers and how engineers use wind tunnels to test their designs. The wind tunnel demonstration segment uses various objects such as inflatable balls to show how the “terminal velocity” (the air velocity required to “fly” the object) depends on an object’s size, shape, and weight. You will predict which balls fly at the fastest speeds, then see if the predictions were correct.

On Wind Tunnel flight day, you will have certified flight instructors will lead you through flight and safety training. Then everyone will get to have 2 flights in the tunnel with one-on-one supervision from an instructor. Both Girls and adults will participate in the flights.

Remember to choose registration option WITH our WITHOUT transportation!

Please note that this program takes place on TWO dates: Virtual on 4/15 and in-person on 4/18.

4/18/2021 - 11:00 am - completion of flights - In person Wind Tunnel flights, (2) - Westchester County, NY  

$60.00/person - adults must register and attend with Girls and provide own transportation on 4/18/2021

$130.00/person includes bus transportation - adults must register to attend with Girls pick-up locations are Wilton Mall at 7:00 am and Crossgates Mall at 7:45 am.
